"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown the place i'm thinking about.. has almost all the stuff i want -- the only thing it's missing is a garage. depending upon where you live, you might think.. that's a big deal or what's the issue? given the soon to be falling winter snow.. a garage would be dandy. but.. where i live now doesn't have one, so even if i do nothing, i'm still without a garage. a few places have had garages, but they lack something else. the basic things i'm looking for.. is about 800+ ft (it's just me, so that's really tons of space), central air, garage, and close to where i work. i define close as about 15 miles.. mebbe 20. i really wanted to find a nice victorian house. i really like those. the thing of it is.. i can't afford a good one and i'm not quite delusional enough to think i can fix on up. plus.. if i bought one of those, i'd not want to sell it. so.. i'm basically thinking about the complete reverse. something built in 1989 instead of 1889 (well, more like 1900's).. a complex place. i think they are kinda like pods of four places, two floors high (eight total units) with walkways between the pods.. a good 100+ units in total. i'd still need to do a few things.. rip up the carpet.. probably put down some pergo kinda flooring. the idea of that is still funky to me -- being able to do it i mean. i'm so used to renting. my realtor also fancies herself a decorator and has all sorts of ideas. some i like.. some, not so much. the idea of a flat screen tv on a swivel arm has some potential. i'm really like that she wants to designate this room and that room. i don't do that now... and because of that, i'm really seeing the value of it. a "den" that's seperate.. it still has a tv, but isn't near the pc. another downside of this place is that while it does have a balcony.. well, a porch (1st floor unit), it faces a walkway and a fence. nothing much to look at. now that i sit on my balcony all that often, but i'd like something better to look at. another downside is that it's near the steps to the 2nd floor, but then.. not that many people live up there, so i don't think it'd matter much. a plus is the location.. the central air, the new kitch appliances, the washer/dryer in unit... the fireplace.. the rooms to break things up.. oh yeah, the price and that, if she's not lying to me, the units are pretty easy to turnover. i think i'm going to sleep on this tonight and make up my mind in the morning. by the way.. if anyone likes the idea of a factory converted to apartments.. there's a fucking awsome place going up in windsor. i mean wicked nice massive wood beams.. high ceilings.. and it looks like they are building it right. why aren't i interested? it won't be done in time.. not for months. still, if you like that sort of place.. it's pretty nice.
