i'm tired

it occurs to me.. that condo hunting (any sort of house hunting really) is really.. an exercise in making a statement about who you are.

do you want to live in the city? in the country? inbetween? do you want one floor, two? what kind of layout? how about parking?

the list could go on.. but really isn't the place you choose to buy a statement on who you are?

i can, and have on more than on occasion, found my rental home in three days or less. heck, i've found the place and moved from one state to another in less than a week twice. rentals are easy.. rentals aren't about who you are...

well, i guess they are.. but that's a whole other issue.

as my realtor said, on the subject of where to live (city or rural), "when it comes down it, some people like to walk out and see trees and others like the city.. but really, when it comes down to it.. what do you do when you get home? does it really matter where you live?"

that strikes a cord.. does it really matter what's outside my walls?

i'd have to say no.. as much as i'd like to give some other answer, i can't.

do i like a forest? do i like green trees, the sounds of birds.. and whatnot?

i do.. but i live in a place that gives me a lot of that now.. and i don't really 'enjoy' it.. i dont really take advantage of it.

have i lived in a city before? yes, yes i have. in fact, the long single address i've had post college has been a city address.. and i don't recall it being an issue.

the question is.. do i really care? everyone seems too.. do i?

this is just another thing, another big thing, in a long, long list of things.. that i just don't seem to know.

i'm tired.
