gore sells

*sigh*

sorry, no linkie.

i watched CSI, the vegas one, the other day.. and i can see a severed head and cut open bodies on all their gory detail.. but the senate has decided to increase the fines for things like janet jackson's breast being aired on tv.

so.. shows totally focused on death, revenge, mutilations and vengence are good for us. a flash of something supposedly naughty is bad for us.

now, to be fair, i'm not saying this because i like breasts (and i do like breasts).. i wouldn't be offended by seeing a guys ass on tv -- as in nypd blue. doesn't faze me a bit. i wouldn't care if there was a penis. doesn't matter to me in the slightlest.

i'm not homophobic and seeing naked men doesn't scare me. i greatly prefer naked woman.

regardless, my point is.. we are saying violence is ok. go back and watch the first season of CSI and then watch some shows this season.. it's a WORLD of difference in what's shown.. what's graphically portrayed. each season the bar moves higher and higher.

now i'm not saying voilence should be banned, though that might not be a bad idea... i'm saying why is it so embraced when sex isn't?

just how insecure are the masses?

perhaps it's not sex that sells.. it's gore.. and more's the pity.
