as i drove to work today.. on the short exit from my apartment complex.. a man was parked on the side of the road. i swung wide into the other lane to avoid him as he was outside his car talking on a cell phone.

he waved at me to stop.

i recall quite clearly thinking, "no good can come of this" and nearly kept driving.

yes, i'm that cynical.

he had a bag in his hand. i thought perhaps he just needs directions or somethings. the bag was a brown paper page.

things were making very little sense.

i stopped and lowered the window. with the cell phone still to his ear he says, "today is renter apperciation day."

my brow furrows.

"here's your breakfast.." handing me the brown paper bag. he backs up already talking into the phone again.

i look in the bag.. sure enough, a bagle cream cheese, orange juice, an apple and a breakfast bar.

part of me wondered, this guy would be some nut trying to see how many people he can poison. i didn't eat anything, not because of that.. but because i'd already had breakfast.

i did eat the bagel and bar on the way home.
