da pledge
September 18, 2005 - 6:12 pm

hrm. yeah. that wasn't good. i think that'd be festering for a while.

well, part of it. some of it just totally blindsided me.

interesting that we even spoke as long as we did. that doesn't deserve much thought though.. what does is why i wanted to be friends with her through all the shit.

an early determination of that is.. is the attitude of "peter pan who never wants to grow up". i like that. i want more of that in me.

however. it's not a reason to be friends, oh not when so much other shit goes on.. so many broken promises and commitments. if not in explicit word, then in intent at the least.

anyway.

what's left to say?

what's really on my mind.. is the whole pledge of allegiance thing. personally, i think the pledge is waste of time -- rather like the oaths from catch 22. being forced to say something doesn't mean you mean it. in fact, in my case, i until about sixth grade i thought the part that said "for which it stands" was actaully "witch" not "which". i was totallly baffled by the thing.

if anything, the pledge should go back to how it was originally written -- not the 1950's modified version. that would fix everything.

from a technical point of view, i'd have to say the courts got it right. if we don't have a national religion.. and we arn't supposed promote religion, then you can't be forcing people to say god who don't want to say god.

people getting upset about it.. amuse me. they arn't really thinking it through.
