"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown "Swinburne, while giving a public lecture at the Australian Catholic University said that probability calculus showed a probability of 97 percent that Christ was resurrected. He said that the conclusion was arrived at after a series of complex calculations, which began with the probability of God's existence as one in two, that is either God existed or did not, adding that it was also one in two that God became incarnate." fully story: now sure, i suppose it's a nice logical exercise to run through some funky math and "prove" that something exists.. but, no -- it's not logical. first of all.. the basic assumption is horribly horribly flawed: seems straight forward enough.. either god is or god isn't. so 1 in 2. but.. but.. what god are you talking about? the christian god isn't quite the same as the jewish one (the whole jesus thing, and jesus is part of the holy trinity -- a key reason why the two religions exist).. or the islamic one? or perhaps a hindu god? what about some of the greek gods? the norse ones? there's thousands upon thousands of god people have, at one time or another, choosen to worship. to ignore all those and simply assume the god you belive is the only viable choice in such an exercise.. is, well.. silly. you're starting with a totally biased assumption and then claiming to deduce fact. silly. yet.. people love to do things like this. i'm sure i'm guilty of it. anyway. work fucking sucked today. i am going to have a chat with my boss this week.. see if the light in the tunnel is the exit or a train. still need to tweak my resume.. and with any luck i'll mass email it out this weekend -- provided its a train like i think it is.
