the matrix sucked.
May 18, 2003 - 1:27 am

wholey fuck batman! the matrix reloaded sucked.

to underline how bad it sucked, a guy in the row behind me fell asleep within 20 minutes of it started and snored through the whole movie. no one felt compelled to wake him up. i was jealous.

the only reason i might consider watching the coming third installment is curiosity about how the story actaully ends. though, i doubt i'll go to the theater to see it - unless it's goes to the 50 theater.

why didn't i like reloaded? well.. one or two involved fight squences would be good, but they are over done and become boring. the special effects are special when used sparingly. when they are used everytime they are no longer special.

oh, and i didn't pay to see a cartoon. in several of the scenes you can tell it's not even a person, but some totally digital creation. i don't mean the body bending effects, i mean that it's not neo at all it looks _exactly_ like video game.

then there was the whole hedonistic bit at zion. what the fuck was that there for? other than hollywood feels the need to include sex, it added nothing to the movie.

then there is the whole wooden dialog. jesus, i thought these folks were professional actors, not just chumps reading off a teleprompter.

i mean, i like the basic idea of the movie. i kinda like the twist at the end with neo doing junk he shouldn't be able to do.

i found it predictable that neo would save trinity, just like trinity saved neo last time.

i went in with low expecations and still came out disappointed.

the friend i went with had this to say "i don't get it. neo is pretty much superman/god inside the matrix. why does have all these long ass fights? why can't he just kick their ass and be done with it? he can fly and stop bullets, but can't land a one hit knockout."

i'm also irked that it's breaking all these records. of course it is. ticket prices are higher and it opened a bazillion theaters. no one takes into account that movie tickets cost more these days. so making 200 million (or whatever it ends up making this weekend) may well not be as impressive as other blockbuster movies. no one adjusts the money take to make a fair comparision.

just like the matrix reloaded, the 'records' are all hype.
