"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown

habits and incompotence
May 09, 2003 - 6:52 pm

so. going forward. i am going to attempt to modify my behaviors. there are things that i just plain hate to do and things that i like to do.. and i either need not to do them or start doing them.

the experts say that in order to change a habit you need to do the desired behavior for 45 days and then.. the desired behaivor will be the habit.

i know of a ton of things i want to change and i'm not sure what to start with first. i'm thinking tops on my list is to stop picking/biting my nails. i've done it as long as i, or anyone in my family, can recall.

to be honest, i'm dumbfounded when it comes to the mundane thing like nail care. how does one decide when to clip/file nails? is there a good way a bad way to do this? i've never done it.

silly huh? i just pick/bite at my nails, i hate it, but it's my nervous habit.

in other news, i was peeking around online at odu. they have a website that pulls together all your class info, registration, bills, etc. pretty nifty stuff, perhaps common place i dunno. i liked it.

i looked at my schedule and damn it. the two classes i thought that started at 7:10am, start at 7:10pm. i'll deal. actaully, that's probably better.

it also looks like i'm going to live in the dorm. that kinda freaked me out. i'll be 27 and living in a dorm. again.

uncle sam is paying for it, so it's kinda free to me. i'm good with that. i wonder what my roomate will be like? that's the part that bothers me.

i think i'm all set on my financial aid needs. though the 'helper' person at odu is FUCKING useless. i send her an email sunday with two questions. i realize i have another one last night, so i send my third question on top of the email with my first two. i don't mind that it's taken her almost a week and she hasn't responded. i'm sure she's busy with other things - like the end of the school year.

today she replies with just: 'what's your ssn?'

see, in my original email i signed with my name and then my ssn under it, so i didn't include it in remailing. i guess she only read the first question or she'd have seen the ssn in the original mail. in-com-po-tent.

as long as she doesn't fuck up my loans, i guess i can deal with that.

that's about it. just me trying to get my life together.
