windows and heat
December 08, 2002 - 10:33 am

i now have two, yes two, layers of plastic over my windows. the first layer is some crap that came in a package and goes right over the window. you're supposed to use a hairdryer to get rid of all the wrinkles n stuff. the problem with that is as it shrink, it pulls on the tape..and the tape doesn't always hold. well that and i don't think it really works. the second layer goes over the windows, not right against the pane itself.

i guess i need to explain my windows eh? they are at ground level, making my apartmetn half underground. i have a set of three windows in each room. the windows are right next to each other and each is about 3ft high and in total they are 6ft long. it's a true pain in the ass to find drapes that size.

i've also found a new reason not to like my apartment (other than the drafty windows). i have central heat, which is good. it's eletric heat, which is bad. it's the damnedest dryest heat i've ever had. at least when i had radiators, i could set tubs of water on them to keep things moist. i woke up today with my lips totally dry and cracked. i licked em and then they like stuck together. my throat felt all dry.

i don't drink enough water to start with. i think my heat might kill me.

well, if it doesn't annoy me to the point of suicide first. see, it's central heat, but it's LOUD. i have to turn the tv up and down as it goes on and off. i suppose i could just leave it turned up, the tv that is, but i don't like it that loud.

i'm going to start keeping lip balm on my night stand. how big of dork will that make me look?

hrm, well to who? no one has ever been in my bedroom here, but me.

that's a statement about how big of a dork i am.

i liked my apartment in the summer. it really was pretty cool, relatively speaking. oh well, such is life here.
