Cats and bets
September 12, 2007 - 5:03 pm

I went and did it.. made my picks for this week today. And, in totally my fashion, went with spread picks.. after disparaging them last time.

So you can laugh at my misfortune or cheer at my luck:

Bengals (-7.5) over Browns - I just don't see how the Browns can keep it that close.

Saints (-4.5) over Buccaneers - I think week 1 was a fluke for the Saints and the Bucs just don't seem that good.

Packers (+1) over Giants - That's right, +1. I picked it a day or two ago. I dunno why, but the odds were slow to take into account Manning's injury (or I'm just a total retard). Last odds I saw were now Packers minus a point or two.. so I've picked up 3 points on the game.

Chiefs over Bears - Yeah, that's not a typo and no spread; just a upset winner. You see, I had a few bucks left over and saw the odds +600 for an even winner. So my piddy $9.50 could turn into $57. If I lose, I'm not too worried.. and, to show I'm a true gambler, I'll only count it as a game I bet if I win.

Right now, I'm at 80%. With a lot of luck, hopefully I can hover around that mark.

In other news.. I went to this one pet store to get Loca some food and, much to my surprise and annoyance, the original cat I wanted to get (over a month later) is still there in the same cage. It's the cat that had the long ass adoption form.. that wanted references (which I didn't have) and all sort of other malarkey. Poor kitty... some adoption-Nazi's attempt at being "proactive" in finding you a good home has kept you in tiny cage for a long ass time. If the cat were black, I'd totally try to take her now.

I just giggle at the idea of black cat to be the opposite of Loca. Hopefully the black cat would be a little calmer than the freak job Loca can be.

I do "know" Loca would love a playmate, so I'm giving it serious thought... taking Loca back to Humane Society and see how she plays/likes other cats. She's never met one that I've seen.. so I've no idea how she'd freak out or not.

I don't so. Even with bumbling me, she's never hissed or anything.
