"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown I've always liked to see the US national team play (mens or womens), but this past week I also watched some non-us teams play. Why do I like it? Simple, top level soccer is fascinating. The way plays develop and how agile the really really good folks are. It's impressive. Mix in a blessed 45 minutes of no commercials (imagine that US tv) and you've got yourself some worthwhile tv time. I also like that there's no time outs.. only three subs. I like that scores are rather uncommon (compared to most popular US sports).. it makes the all the better to watch. And, at the national level, they can be pretty darn impressive. Sure the current US men's team is iffy -- hot and cold, but our under 20 team is currently rockin' their world cup and the women's team has been tops for years. Does this count as positive? I think so. A place like Alaska - April 07, 2012 Dowton Abbey - February 01, 2011 Dowton Abbey - January 31, 2011 Something of an update - January 16, 2011 What to do... - January 01, 2011 |
