a lot of the people in my training group are.. just out of college (training for a different, but similair job) and it was every so amusing as they looked and saw just how much gets taken out for taxes and whatnot.

i'm pretty damn sure someone of them have never "earned" a paycheck before. so much for living off mom and dad.

one espeically funny part is.. one gal in the group says she's all for universal healthcare, she thinks it should be free.. blah blah blah. so when she saw her check she started bitching about taxes and whatnot, so i pointed out if we had a universal healthcare system, her tax rate would quite a bit higher.

oddly.. she suddenly didn't feel that a universal program was such a good idea.

scary how often people just "see" a blurb about something being "free" for everyone and say they really support that - even to the point of a passionate argument about social values.. and then.. when they actaully learn something about the issue they say, "oh, nevermind."

other folks had been looking at places to live in various parts of the country.. places with 2,000 a month rents and "sweet" views. reality can be such a harsh, cruel bitch...

tomorrow.. tomorrow i'm going to use the first day of my free one week gym pass. early next week.. i plan on joining. probably for just 3 months.
