"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown in a normal one, blinds go up every 30 minutes. in the turbo.. blinds go up every 5 minutes. there's a _hell_ of a difference. not to mention less people seem to enter, so basic odds are better. i played in my first one today.. and at hand six i was in first place. didn't last long, but that's ok. it took about 2 hours.. which is short compared to the f'ing marathon i played this weekend... towards the end i found myself in 10th with about 18,000 chips. blinds were 4,00/8,000. two hands before i was the big blind, i realized.. i'm about to lose 12,000 chips to the blinds. that's alot. so i call 8,000 with KJ. then i realize "oh shit, if i lose this hand, i'm fucked. i only have 10,000 chips left." by the skin of my teeth i won. up to 33,000 chips and in 5th place. some.. five hands later i'm back in 17th place. f'ing blinds. top 19 earn a seat to a big ass tourny with a 500,000 prize pool. i've no illusions about that monster. not my league, not yet anyway. but you see.. if i earn the seat, i earn what's called T$, tourny dollars. i earn $215, what it costs to enter the big ass beast. i can sell my seat for $200 in real cash. yep, people buy and sell T$ and other things on pokerstars. how they make money, i don't care. i can $200 for my investment of $11 and 1.5 hours of time. with blinds now 6,000/12,000.. i watch quite nervious for the last two people to bomb out. if they don't i'm screwed. i've less than both blinds in chips. i debate, do i pick a hand and go all in.. risk being the guy who finishes 20th or 21st? only two seats to go.. people with a lot less chips than me under huge pressure from the blinds. i wait. they lose. i win. i sell. i happy. lesson learned: beware the blinds when playing. i could have sat pretty damn fat and happy in the middle/end of the game in the top five.. and but no, i bet. i played. i lost. i fell to 10th and the blinds nearly killed me. next time i'm going to pay tighter at the end. my cushion of 40k in chips would have held well -- well better than how i fared. it was short. it was fun. playing with the big blinds is interesting. most of all, i made nice cash. i think i'm going to restart the selectnumber bed fund. i wonder how long till i lose it all...
