best day of poker

i'm currently 45 out of 52 in a $10 tourny.. that had 1,005 entrants. this means i've turned tha ten bucks into at least $100. it's taken.. nearly 4.5 hours, so that's about $20 an hour. tax free.

need to finish 45 to get to about $125. the outlook is bleak for that..

why am i writing about this? well, without a doubt, it's the best day's worth of poker i've played and i'm rather happy/proud about it.

started off good, keeping nice and disiplined. hovering around the top 20% for the first two hours. in hour three i fucked up. i fucked up bad. one hand. one laspe in my thinking and i went from something like 50,000 chips to about 6,000. i went from the 20% to the bottom 5%.. it didn't look like i was going to win any money.. which is what usually happens.

i play good, have one or two big mistakes and am done.

today. today i managed to win a pot.. then another and then another. it took most of the 3rd hour, but i managed to get my butt back up and couldn't believe it when we actaully hit the money spots.

what's kinda disturbing is that i currently have about 40,000 chips and the first place guy has over 400,000.

anyway. today instead of studying, i opted to drop my last bucks in PS on this tourny. figured i'd play for an hour or two, lose.. and then study.

now.. i'm hanging on, trying to cherry-pick a hand or two and limp a little higher in standings. tough to do with 4000/8000 blinds and 400 chip ante.

but then.. that's point of blinds/ante to make people play.

down to 47 of 49.. i might make the next level.

hah, now 49 of 49. i could be a dick and take all the time possible.. but i hate it when people do that, so i won't.

43 of 43.. i made it. down to 25k thanks to the blinds and ante..

next goal is 35th for $150. very unlikely, but i don't care.

i'm going to be happy not to have to look at the f'ing screen anymore. not to have to sit here.. well, save for the 5 minutes breaks every hour.

oh, yes.. and the $128.58, to be exact, that i've won.

oh! there it is. took 41st. my last gasp on A 3 of clubs. against one guy.. who had pocket 3's. no ace for me, all my chippies are belong to him/her now.

41 of 1005, or top 5%. more than 10x return.. and, sadly, the best hours of the day fittered away.

mmmm...and the money is already in my account. a happy, happy kraven tonight.

oh, if you're wondering.. since 41st pays that much, how much does first place get?
