so, you might ask, what the hell am i doing updating after posting that long ass list of things yesterday?

i'm on a break. we did the tour and all that crap and dinner is at 6pm. so, since i live close.. i've come home and everyone else went to hotel rooms.

i interview tomorrow at 8am and am done at 8:30. on the road by 10 and there by 3pm.. for a dinner at 5:30 or so. that's the plan -- more or less.

as for the current job, i'm conflicted. it's very much unlike anything i've ever done. it will undoubtedly be working odd hours, weekends and what not.. after, it is a railroad and that operates 24 hours a day. it pays good. the benefits are great. and.. if i really don't like it, i can possibly transfer out after a coupla years.

to be honest, i don't care about the hours.. that is what it is. i'm not sure i'd like the job itself.

i talked a bit about it with a friend of mine.. who, quite honestly (and on a wholey seperate issue), i wish wasn't dating someone. we seem to get along really well.. and perhaps it's just that -- that we are simply good friends.

i'm far from being at reading women, so i tend to just chaulk it up to that.. and besides, if she wanted to be single, she could be. so even if she likes me, she probably likes her bf more.. or whatever. perhaps after our last class together is over i'll ask.

though, that will probably be too late. anyway, that's thinking for another day.. possibly my drive tomorrow.

in a few hours, i go back to the hotel for the dinner.. and get to hobnobb or whatever it's called. should be good food.

i should do well in the group setting. most of the others are undergrads and seem pretty nervious, asking odd questions.. which i think is a misguided belief that i need to ask something to show i'm interested. still, asking "i know you said you have 160 miles of track in the railyard, but how many seperate tracks do you have?" is kinda silly. i mean, what the fuck does that matter? we arn't going to be folks who take care of tracks.. but even if we are, what you need to know is 160 miles. the guy thought for a minute and then started to list off the tracks in batches. it was kinda funny. every area has various numbers of tracks...

anyway. a few questions were asked twice.

the tour guy was great, a true character and a hell of a talker. of course, that meant every silly question got a long ass answer as he tried to weave his reply into something worthwhile.. and got sidetracked.

so what's up between now and then? i think i'm going to shave again.

i'm also debating, do i wear my shiney black shoes to go with my shirt/dockers or keep my dark brown shoes? the blacks are much nicer, but i always feel weird with black shoes and brownish pants.

i'm a fashion retart -- mostly cause i don't think it should matter.
