china, korea and peru
October 07, 2003 - 4:48 pm

i'm going to study abroad. being that i'm a grad student, i can only go for a short time - not a whole semester. i was thinking about this program in denmark.. which i'd love to visit.. but i dunno that going there for school is the best of ideas.

today i found a program that goes to china and korea. it's 16 days, pretty short, but that's really the most i can do as a grad student.. anyway to my way of thinking, southeast asia and china in particular is going to be a massive growth area.

i mean, china has what, four times as many people as the united states and think of all things they don't have that the states does.. talk about growth.

anyway, i also want to learn chinese. i gather it's pretty tough to do, but i want to give it a whirl. i dunno where to though.. here at school, it's a six credit class. i can't do that much in addition to my regular school work. a three credit class probably..

i tried amazon.com for 'chinese for dummies', but didn't find it.

i need to meet someone from there, get in good with them and try to pick things up and, if i still like it find someone to formally teach me.

why am i writing all this here? because i heard it's good to write down goals.

of course, i don't read what i write.. so it's probably of limited value in my case.

i kinda talked to the girl from peru today. i'm not sure what the deal is there. i have no skills what so ever when it comes to try and tell if she's interested or not.

i'm thinking about going for the wussie approach and email her with something about class, though i can't find her email address - every plan has a flaw.

perhaps tomorrow after class, i'll try and talk to her. though, i need to meet with my group, so i probably won't be able to.

oh well. this is quite the international entry huh?
