"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown i never used to get people who said they liked something on one level, but not on others. i get that now. i understand that. no matter what level i look at things at though, it's just not satisfactory. of course, it's foolish to think that things are supposed to make sense to me. afterall, who am i or singular person in the scheme of things. if you say nothing, that as people we don't matter then the answer is self-evident. if you say the individual person does matter then the question is how do we matter? if you die today, does it matter? people who know you are sad, but does that matter? in the scheme of the whole universe, does even humanity as a whole matter? i get tripped up in such questions. there's no way to figure out the answer, perhaps we learn the answer when we die. i'm way off my original point. i'm trying to think of what i can do to move some part of my life satisfactory. i read an article the other day about the foriegn service. it seems that people are applying for positions there, but not for 'hardship' positions. i'm not sure i like the idea of the job, but i like the idea of living somewhere else. i'm curious if my growing cynacism with people is due to where i live or with all people.
