"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results - Albert Einstein

reality, kraven being 'deep'
2001-08-04 - 1:10 p.m.

it's rainy today.

i like the rain. i like clouds.

there's a metaphor or an analogy in there somewhere i'm sure. i'm full of those. i like them, they help me try to explain things. they help me organize my jumbled thoughts, force me to phrase things in other words, to make me clarify what i mean to say. i have no idea if they help anyone else.

more and more i realize how odd the world is. like with my toes, watching them curl and curl. the world, that is life, is not more than a series of sensory inputs. that's it. nothing more complex than that. as a species we've somehow agreed to recgonize basic things the same way. if i see and call soemthing 'orange' and you see it to and recognize it as 'orange'. really though, that object isn't orange, that just happens to be the wavelengths of light it reflects. a creature who doesn't see in the spectrum of light we do, would not see orange at all. perhaps it would just see the heat the object gave off or who knows what. everything we see, is nothing more than reflected light. a book is red because all the other wavelengths of light, that our eyes can see, are absorbed. an object is black because it absorbs all the light, so it reflects none...it is the absence of light. an object is white because if reflects every wavelength we see, it absorbs nothing.

what is a sound? but air molecules basing into each other in a pattern we hear and give meaning too. noise with meaning. reverbirations from one molecule hitting another and another and another...

what is a feeling, to touch something? the firing of nerves in our hands...a sensory repsonse. somehow our minds all agree what is hot or cold or rough or smooth. some alien race would probably not interpret them the same.

life is all about interpetation, taking senses and giving them meaning. there is no good or bad, no hot or cold, no light or dark, until we give that event, that thing, such a value. reality is a surreal concept. reality is nothing more than a 'things' waiting for us to give meaning too. the real reality happens in our minds. that is where values are assigned and the meaning of things are determined. nothing is really real until it passes through the filters we have, our fingers, our eyes, our ears...and reaches our mind. by then who knows how it's been warped. what if all our eyes are faulty and when we 'see' red light reflected it is really 'blue' and our eyes misinterpret the information? we have no way to check. what if people who are 'color blind' really are the ones whose rods and cones work correctly? can you really say that's not so?

how can we really trust anything we get from our senses? there is no way to verify what information we get and so there's really little people in spending much time doubting it, but more and more...i am.

matter is made up molecules and molecules made up of atoms. atoms are made up of electons, protons and neutrons. most of the atom is space between the three, 'empty' space. i say 'empty' because there could be things there that i don't know are there and so it looks empty. but my point is, atoms are mostly this empty space and so molecules, which are nothing more than organized atoms, are empty space. and so these keys my fingers hit are really mostly empty space, just as my fingers are. odd isn't it that we are mostly empty spaces? we are mostly made up of nothing...

more and more i think the world exist only inside my mind. not my head, but my mind. your reality is what you see inside your head. every person lives in a different reality. we interact and communicate, or try to. how many times have said something and meant it in one way, but it was precevied and taken in another? in your reality you said A but B was heard. if your reality was the same as mine, then you would say A and i would hear A, but they are not the same. sometimes they differ a little and sometimes...a lot.

ah well, enough of me trying to be deep...i grow tired.
