Fire, deer and hunters.
2001-05-21 - 5:39 p.m.

I think I might take up photography.

I got this simply awsome picture in email today.

Some guy was up in Montana got this nighttime shot of a forest fire as it was ravaging the mountainsides. It's just amazing how he caught the trees. Some of them have toppled and others are just starting to catch fire. Now perhaps you're sitting thinking that what little marbles I had left have finally decided to give up and moved out, but..BUT the part that makes the picture is the foreground. The background is all the burning hell of fire devouring the mountainside. About dead center there's a grove of trees that's igniting in bright orange/yellow/gold flames. Most of the foreground is dark, as I said it's a nighttime shot and all the light comes from the fire. It looks like he's standing either in a river/stream and looking up stream at the fire. You can barely make out some ripples in water, perhaps he standing at a bend...it's really hard to say. Up stream from him, probably less than 100 yards are two deer, perhaps elk. They are both standing in the water, with heads turned looked at the fire. That's the cool part. There's this background that's worthy of Dante's Inferno and then there's this foreground with two deer watching the the fire. I just had to stop and wonder what the deer where thinking. Probably something about one less place to hide from hunters.

Oh, I almost forgot...if you want to see what hell Im talking about, ask and I'll email ya the picture.
