At work, a guy came up to me and said, "I understand your brother is down in Haiti. We have something in common."

It's true, my brother is there.. he's in the Navy. This guy didn't have a brother there, but said his school is there. At first I thought he meant he was from Haiti, but that's not what he meant. Somewhere along the way he got involved in a charity for Haiti and somehow heard that one particular school was going to close to due lack of funds. Per this guy, the average wage in Haiti is $500 and there's about seven people who work at this school... so this guy and a friend decided to each chip in about $2,000 a year and pay to run the school.

How's that for pretty frick'in awesome?

He goes to visit once or more a year and help out with the charity thing, but also to see the school and the kids.

He's got no idea what's happened to the school or anyone. This area, like many in Haiti, has no phones or electricity or running water or anything like that.
