"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2009/12/16/taunton_officials_dispute_reports_on_jesus_sketch/ Short summary.. 9 year old boy draws a picture of Christ on the cross, but puts his name above the figure. School teacher finds the drawing and becomes concerned that the drawing might be a cry for help.. since the kid put his name above the figure. Teach notifies others at the school and the kid undergoes a psych evaluation. News media pick up the story and it get all blown out of proportion with things like 'the kid was suspended for drawing Jesus' and such. What just boggles my mind is that the dad is quoted twice saying: They cant mess with our religion. They owe us a small lump sum for this." He said he was uncomfortable, he said. I also think they should give him a fully paid scholarship to the school of his choice. We should be compensated for our pain and suffering." Yeah, that's the ticket.. instead of a teacher being commended for erroring on the side of caution.. the school should pay the family money. I wonder what the situation would be if the drawing had been a cry for help and this year or next year the kid hurt himself or others. What would Christ think would be the right sort of 'apology' in this situation? Surely not money...
