books and salmon in a can
June 19, 2005 - 2:14 pm

i've been inspired, or atleast semi-inspired, to buy some new books. i used to read all the time, but lately.. not so much.

so after a conversation with aprilly a bit ago and reading a diary, http://mistressmatisse.blogspot.com/, i've decided to get some books from amazon.

here's the list:

invisible monsters by chuck palahniuk -- his third book. i know it's not the one aprilly recommened, but i'm hoping i can borrow haunted one day ;)

crimes against logic by jamie whyte -- a book about how people use faulty logic to try and get their way.

freakonomics: a rouge economist explores the hidden side of everything by stephen levitt and stephen dubner -- i like how they are both "steves" with different names. even though people cringe at the word "economics", you shouldn't. economics is, simply put, the study of supply and demand.. and that's what our society -- every single aspect of it -- is about. this book uses economic theory to explore things like dropping crime rates, the effect of roe vs wade, and other things..

breakthrough rapid reading by peter kump -- yeah, so i want to read faster. haven't read a speedreading book before.. and this one had some decent reviews, so i'll give it a whirl.

so.. that's one fiction, two sort of social commentary, and one self-help. more or less.

and now.. it's time to get dressed.. and find the local costco. i miss my salmon in a can.
