"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results - Albert Einstein

in the process of moving
May 13, 2005 - 10:18 am

i am... in connecticut.

before coming here, i had the converstation.. repeatedly.. about where i was moving and why. one of the curious people was a girl whose originally from france. hearing her pronouncing every bit of the word was funny. i say it as one big word.. as fast as possible with little break. she said it: con-nect-i-cut, with each bit cleary spoken and emphasised.

it made me laugh. of course, the only thing i can say in french is: bon merde. that translate, literallly, to: good shit. yes, yes, i'm savant with langauges, i know.

i'm soon to be living here. most probably in wallingford. odd fact about wallingford: the town makes its own electricity, so electric bills are unusually cheap. also has a pretty low mill rate for personal property - yes, the bastards here tax you for having a car. on the other hand, they don't have a local income tax.. so i guess it's all the same.

i need to go find a place to get money orders for my security deposit.

i then will be meeting up with a future co-worker for lunch.

i will then be sorting out how to get my ass back to pittsburgh to get the rest of my stuff.

the plan there is to find a place to leave my car (which as some of my stuff in it) and fly back to pgh. i'm hoping that even with this late notice, i can use my frequent flyer miles and be a happy camper flying for free. i will then lounge around pgh for a bit, pack up my stuff and drive a uhaul back here.. and the games will begin with work on june 1st.

moving makes me insane. i like to do it on shoestring.. mostly because experience has taught me that even the best laid plans of mice will fail. murphy's law trumps all.

so, i've chosen to things in a more haphazard way. sorting out problems as they must be dealt with.. with just a hint of foresight. a plan in my head, but never on paper if you will.

the biggest issue now is when do i go back to pgh? i could hang around here for another day or two, but that means a hotel. though it's only 40 bucks a night at the place i found, so that's not a _big_ deal. with house hunting done, i'd want someone to hang out with.. and i'm hoping to get a call about that soon.. but i'm unsure if it will happen. the schedules of two busy people just won't mesh this week and that's fine. all part of the haphazard plan.

am i spelling haphazard right? whatever.

ok. time go find money orders and firm up the lunch plans... and call us air to use my miles.

mmmm.. a yummie to-do list! woo!
