denmark and chinese
October 11, 2003 - 12:41 pm

so, we have a visitor from denmark for the next week or so. he's a friend of john.

i don't drink beer very often, but last night four of us drank two cases. perhaps not staggering, but impressive for us.

happily, i'm not hungover today.

the chinese voting so far goes as follows: one vote cantonese and two mandarin.

the deciding factor will be this: all the books i've seen on chinese language talk about one of the hardest things is pronouncing the words correctly. you can't learn that from a book. i can't afford the fancy dancy hundered plus dollar dealies that include cds and software.. so, i've contacted the english learning center on campus.

they have this program where domestic students help non-domestic students learn english.. my plan is to hook up with a chinese speaker and trade. i'll try not to fuck up their english if they'll help me with chinese. so, it really matters which they speak..

i'm going to sign up for the china/korea trip next week - pretty far in advance, but i want to go and this will make sure i do.
