money
January 09, 2003 - 7:59 am

i've updated my profile. there are now ten things that i know.

i'm left feeling quite annoyed now. i got an email that someone signed my guestbook. this made me happy. i went to see who it was and read what they had to say. i frowned a bit as i read the message "you have a great site".

i understood at once that this person never read or looked at this place.

i clicked on the http link and for the very smallest of moments was surprised that the link took me to a porn site.

of course, like i thought, this person didn't read here. he/she simply posted on my guestbook on the slim hope that i might join the porn site and make him/her some money.

that's the true religion of the present day. money. god has become the almighty dollar. islam, christianity and all the rest are obsolete, even if they don't know it yet.

a priest molests a child. do the parents rest easy knowing that god will take care of the priest? no, they don't. perhaps they don't trust god anymore since god let the priest molest their child. they seek money from the church. money will ease the pain, the betrayal, the confusion. how could it not?

karl marx once said that religion is the opiate of the masses.

no longer, money is now the opaite of the masses.

you slip on an icy sidewalk, you sue the city. nevermind that it was an accident, the city is at fault for not removing ever single sliver of ice. it doesn't matter that you stepped on the ice, that you slipped on a very natural and normal occurance.

you put a hot cup of coffee between you legs while drive and it spills. you sue. you win. you win millions. why? the coffee was too hot. nevermind that you choose to put it between your legs and not in a cup holder. nevermind that you choose to drive while drinking.

everyone deserves to be rich. everyone.

we devour the planet on which we live to make products that are silly, that are absurd. we make the products so that companies make money and companies pay salaries. the more a company makes, the more people make. it's not at all about making what people need, but what will make money.

our society, our culture isn't about what is best for us, we've totally lost sight of that. our culture is all about money. it's all about wealth.

the average person works 8 hours a day. we are supposed to sleep 8 hours a night, so 1/3 of our time is spent doing something you'd probably rather not do, working for money. the next 1/3 is spent sleeping. the last is free time, that's not really free. it's going to and from work, it's spending money that you worked for.

we tend to skimp on sleep so that we have more free time. more time to spend more money, so we have to work more.

did you ever notice that the more a person makes, the more a person spends, so they have to keep working?

sorry, it's early. i'm rambling.
