i lack power
March 2, 2002 - 12:38 pm

ok, so i'm not sure exactly what i've started. this goes back to the olympics. i was bored one night and they were talking about mormons on tv, so i went to the webpage. i read around, curious about them, since all i know is probably the stereotypes that you do. well that's not true, i knew a bit more than the average person. see, joy was mormon and it was cause of her really that i started writting here. she always said whoever she would marry would have to be mormon, even though she didn't exactly live as she should, she would when she was married. so i learned some about it from her.

anyway, i went to the page and surfed around. one of the links was an offer to get a free copy of the book of mormon. so i got the book, hey it's free and i sort of like learning about newish things. the book came and i started to read it. i didn't get too far. see one of the first pages talking about the book and how it came to be there's a quote that says something about with this book you can get closer to the truth of god than any other book. what it means is that the book is the most accurate of all the holy books (all the books of the bible), that the other books have had inaccuracies and such slip into them over the years. now bear in mind, the bible is a collect of books that the early church decided to make into the bible. the picked the books from many, many books and decided that this collection they had just made would the 'holy bible'. before printing presses, books were done by hand or kept alive through oral history. think of that game we used to 'grapevine' and how simple stories get twisted...

that's not my point. but i read that..this this book can get you closer to the truth. it doesn't say it has the truth, but 'closer'. i didn't see the point of reading it after that. i'm not interested in halftruths or what sounds nice. i'd like to know the true truth, the full truth..be it good or be it bad. if the truth is there is no god, that live came to exist purely by chance, then so be it. if the truth is that some godlike being made life and then got bored and has moved off to some other part of the universe, then so be it. if the truth is that nothing exists but my mind and you are all figments of my mind (or i am a figment of yours), then so be it.

knowledge is power and right now...i like useful knowledge...and therefore lack power.
