"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown

three absurd stories
February 7, 2002 - 5:26 pm

originally i was going to post 100 facts about myself. i've seen a few people do this and kinda of like the idea. instead, the hand of fate has moved in...and i'm to post, probablly illegally in case (if notifed) i'll delete this post, bits of stories found today on www.drudgereport.com, perhaps giving that plug is enough...i don't know. anyway, today there is a vast amount of information all adding to the growing pile of info that just goes to show that perhaps, just perhaps, we have reached the limit of our evolution.

and now, without further ado...

1) "From rescue workers who say they have lung problems to business owners who say their shops were damaged, 1,300 people have given notice they may sue the city for a total of $7.18 billion over the aftermath of the World Trade Center attack." hrm...sue the city cause religious fanatics destroyed the towers, that makes sense. it's part of the american way, the american dream...life screws you and you get to sue people to get rich, all the while saying the money won't make things better, but it's the principle or to prove a point or get closure...shut the fuck up, you want to get rich quick and your grief stricken mind has rationalized the situation to an amazing extent only capible by such an advanced and civilized society. it stands to perfect reason the city is at fault, even though national defense is the charge of the federal government...

2) "A SENIOR Vatican official has asserted that illness is the result of sin and that people have a natural desire to be healthy and good- looking...Father Georges Cottier, the Popes chief theologian, immediately stepped in to reassure those who were ill that they were not in fact paying for their sins...Jesus heals sickness and banishes sin, he said. He therefore teaches us that there is a link between sin and illness. This does not happen in every individual case, but it is a fundamental law. The history of salvation shows us that illness is a consequence of sin... Jesus told the man, who had been crippled for 38 years: 'Take up your bed and walk'. Finding him later in the temple, Jesus ordered the cured man to 'go and sin no more, or something worse may happen to you'" sorry for the long excerpt, but i find this article kind of fasinating. the article does cite some dissenting theologians, but let's face it the pope is the authority on god, right? well the catholic god anyway. so the pope says we get sick cause we sin. doesn't the pope lead a pretty pure life? he sick right now isn't he? parkinsons or something like that, no? i wanna know what sins the pope has. i sin every day and i haven't be striken ill in many a year. i could go on, but well i think the absurdity of the article speaks far better than i can.

3) 'LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Some 300 translations of the Koran, donated to Los Angeles schools by a local Muslim foundation to promote religious understanding after Sept. 11, have been removed because of an accompanying anti-Semitic commentary, school board officials said on Thursday.

The book, 'The Meaning of the Holy Koran,' is a 1934 translation of the Muslim holy text, which includes footnotes dating from that era which describe Jews variously as 'arrogant' 'illiterate' and 'men without faith.' now, as a general rule i don't support any major religion, but i've nothing against those who freely choose what to believe. the idea that the donated books, provided to increase religious understanding, themselves included religious slurs...ah well, such is the way of man.

that's enough isn't it? afterall..it's just one days worth of news.....

who can guess this: when i park my car at work, which way does it face?
