lords of freight

so, should i start with the main event or do some other stuff first?

other stuff first of course, suspense is good for the soul...but more on that later.

so i got my mail today and spied what could only be a xmass card. this is odd since i don't get many cards, probably 'cause i send out few than i get. so i opened the card and...was a bit confused or perhaps shocked is a better word. inside was a card from an old high school friend i havn't spoken to in over a year. i'm not sure if they sent me one last year or not, but i certianly didn't expect one this year. i dunno what it is about cards. i usually like to get them, but that's when they are random surprise kind of cards. i dislike cards that socially obligate me to send one back. i think it's all a scam to give more business to the post office. if it is, it's not working. that place loses money at a simply staggering pace. i'm debating if i should send one back.

hrm, ah well..the main event it is.

so i woke up today and said to myself, 'self,' sometimes i call myself self instead of by my name. i'm not sure why, but it doesn't matter since i'm pretty sure i know who i'm talking to. 'self,' i said, 'you can do one of two things today. you can either call at 8am and found out the good or bad news or you can wait and be surprised.'

this is a tough choice. this is what i was talking about yesterday with the potential to be a simply gloriously henious day. i have absolutly no affect on things, not an ounce of things is in my hands. i'm a responsible bystander. by that i mean, it's my account and therefore i'm responsible to my customer. it does not matte that i have no ability to affect if the material is shipped, if it's shipped correctly, if the freight carries deliver...nothing at all. i'm a bystander. if the said material does not appear by 10:30 my customer will cease to call my phone. this is bad since my customer is a fortune 100 company. i hope all that sort of helps you understand.

so, i said back to myself, 'self, let's go with suspense. sure it's not the most responible thing to do, but why ruin my day at 8am when i can enjoy two more hours or relative calm.'

i called at 10 and low and behold...the lords of freight smiled kindly on me and things worked out fine. well the first half anyway. the second half happens to tomorrow, but that should run smoothly...unless the lords of freight are feeling fickle or overly sadistic.

i guess today counts as some love at work, but not really.

the rest of today did suck, but only the afternoon. i don't get why people just can't leave a voicemail. i am good at gettin' em and calling back.
