"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." -- unknown

perhaps ending up by the highway was a sign to go somewhere else...

but anyway, today was the great milk challange 2001. the challange was to down 1 gallon of whole milk in one hour and not puke. sounds simple? get some people to bet you money and drink up. much to everyones disappointment there was no puking, but the contestant did bow about with about 20 minutes left and 1/4 to drink. he would have made $120.00 if he had done it...

i'm eating chicken and pork rice and cashews.

i think more people should watch farscape. sure it's sort of silly and childish, but if you listen...every now and then they say something really thought provoking. i'll try and explain this as easy as i can, but it's hard to do if you don't watch the show.

this guy john was captured and going to be killed, so his friends tried to enlist the help of a whole slew of aliens (hey it is on the sci-fi channel). one of the people they sought for help turned them down. they pleaded with him that if he didnt help them, john would die. the guy explained that he was against violence and that by his helping he would kill people. they countered with john was his friend and would die without his aid. he pauses and says, 'there's always a reason isn't there? there's always something to justify..'

that's so true. people always justify or say this is an exception and that it's ok to do something 'wrong'. we don't like things to be black and white, we like shades of grey..where our own whims and fancies can run and play. our government says that anyone who breaks the law must be given a fair trial...and yet how many of you would cheer if bin laden was captured and then executed, skipping the trial, on tv? the law is the law is the law, fuck the exceptions.

i deal with this at work all the time. each offices handles a certian territory, but there are many, many accounts that are handled by an office outside that territory. we spend so much time and effort behind the scenes fighting to get control of accounts, the selling to them seems to be secondary. there are these petty fueds that to fester and fester. we make the hatfields and mcoys look like loving neighbors. i say, be it good or bad for me, we have territories and deal with it. life is simple and easy and the focus then is on getting your customers happy and not worring about what accounts we need to uncover that should be ours. we are all the same company, arnt we?

you can't trust anyone though, not anyone. everyone gives lipservice to those ideas. everyone agrees, in principle..but you see, when it comes time to even out the accounts...there's all these special cases and exceptions to justify why changes shouldn't be made. it's a joke.

but then, people never say what the mean and mean what they say. it's not just a business thing, but anywhere and everywhere. but i'm must whining about being disillusioned again.

time to go.
