It's the story.. a long lost time... a country manner I guess. The date is pre-world war I. Maids... footmen... a valet and a butler. It's a time of change Social change most notably. Season one ends with the declaration of WWI.

It's... the inner workings of how this Abbey works. All the servants, and there do seem to be an awful lot of them... live one life and the family of the Abbey live an other.

It's the the little things of the show.. like when the Butler practices how he will answer the telephone which has just been installed.

It's the sort of show where, really, nothing happens. It's just... a sort of 'day in the life' type show.
